‘‘Intuitive, sensitive, focused, playful’’

For as long as she can remember, Jori has been very intuitive, following the flow of movement, sound and storytelling.
Inspired by books and movies she started to create her own little stories; expressing herself through different forms like poetry, painting, dancing, singing and making music.
After high school she took a year to join a pre-dance education (5 o’clock class) that soon led her to the path of dance and performance arts.

During her education at the Amsterdam School of Arts, Urban Contemporary Dance Department, she worked hard on a diverse range of dance forms - like jazz, modern, ballet, tapdance, housedance -, next to acting and singing classes. Among other things she learned to co-create and to find her own voice amid so many other strong and creative individuals.
Nearing the end of the 4 years she got inspired by working with dance and vocals/breath.

After achieving her bachelor in June 2015 she build a concept, ‘‘Music in Motion’’, to further explore the combination of dance and sound. Through experimentation with her loopstation she created a couple of dance-theatre pieces: Transcendence (2017), Ik zoek jou (2019), Breath is Key (2019 Veenendaal, 2020 TapasTheater)
Also adding some short films to her repertoire: Who will love you (2018), Pulling on the rope (2018), Lion (2020), Parrot (2021).

In 2020 she started teaching Movement sessions, where she combines her dance knowledge with the Ido Portal method which she has been practicing since early 2018. She also has initiated her own design brand ‘‘Designbyjori’’, a platform and artistic outlet where she blends design with dance and music.
